Faced with a dearth of lighting in our home, I set off to throw lamp bodies. I had thrown two smaller lamp bodies previously and outfitted them with lamp hardware, so I had learned some lessons by the time I threw this lamp. To gain height, I threw two “bowls” and merged them together at their rims. In keeping with the design aesthetic of many other vessels I’ve made for our home, I glazed this piece in matte black and accented it with a low-fire teal glaze that drips to create an organic effect.
